TEACHING ARTIST I love what I do, I teach what I love.
What is a teaching artist? A teaching artist is a practicing professional artist with the complimentary skills, curiosities and sensibilities of an educator who can effectively engage a wide range of people in learning experiences through the arts. Teaching artists do what they teach. They teach from experience and focus on the process first and the product second.
It is the primary goal of most teaching artists to cultivate artistic identity and creative intelligence of each student. This grows self-esteem and improves overall health and well being in all individuals.
I currently teach for AFTA (Association of Florida Teaching Artists), Van Wezel Schooltime Performances, and VSA Florida (The state organization on Arts and Disabilities).
I also offer Expressive Painting classes at Assisted Living Centers, Memory Care, and Rehabilitation Centers. Expressive Painting is a program especially designed for seniors. Residents will enjoy this easy and relaxed approach to drawing and painting. Each one hour class includes all supplies and art instruction. The cost of the class (up to 10 participants) is $95.00.
